Wildflower Seed GiveawayThe Statesman is participating in a fundraising campaign to buy wildflower seeds to spread along highways, byways, parks and in neighborhoods throughout Central Texas. Special Lady Bird Legacy seed packets are given to fourth-grade students, who then learn about the importance of wildflowers and how to create their own gardens. The campaign, which began in 2008, on what would have been President Lyndon B. Johnson's 100th birthday, will continue through 2012, when Lady Bird would have turned 100. All fourth-grade students in Central Texas are eligible for the free packet of seeds and planting instructions. |

Foods aren't good or bad. Healthy eating is really like a puzzle. Each part -- or food -- is different. Some foods have more fat or sugar while others have more vitamins or fiber. But there is a place for all foods! What makes a diet good or bad is how foods fit together. Balancing your choices is important. Fit in a higher-fat food, like pepperoni pizza, at dinner by choosing lower-fat foods at other meals. ------
