Resources for North Carolina teachers and students

Newspaper in Education at the Rocky Mount Telegram, The Daily Advance and the Daily Reflector are now offering our eEdition as well as our print product. You can choose one or both!

We are making the eEdition available not only to take advantage of new technology, but also to be good stewards of our NIE donations. The money we raise for NIE can go a lot farther by purchasing eEditions for participating classrooms, which means we will be able to expand the program to even more teachers.

When ordering newspapers or the eEdition for your classroom, be sure and click on the newspaper in your school's area. Thank you for using the Newspaper in Education program in your classroom!

NIE Special Report

In celebration of Black History Month, we complied a selection of videos from NBC Learn's 'Finishing the Dream' to use as an aid to teach the struggles and celebrate the triumphs of the Civil Rights movement over the span of 60 years. 'Finishing the Dream' is a project by NBC Learn, the educational arm of NBC News, and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation

Resources for Anna's Story Serial Story

"Anna's Story" is a sequel to "Tommy and the Guttersnipe," which told the story of Tommy McMahon and a homeless boy known as Baby Jake, eking out a living on the streets of New York City. The invitation to write a sequel to "Tommy" allows me to tell a different story, the story of the poor little girls trapped in that same world.
