L.CCS.1/2/3/4 Grades 6-12: Video of a current news event is presented for discussion to encourage student participation, but also inspire the use of evidence to support logical claims using the main ideas of the video. Students must analyze background information provided about a current event, draw out the main ideas and key details, and review different opinions on the issue. Then, students should present their own claims using facts and analysis for support.

Study says 92% of U.S. Babies Have Online Presence
A new study reveals nine out of 10 U.S. kids have an online presence before their second birthday and seven percent of babies even have their own email address.■Class discussion: In an increasingly digital world, is this that surprising to you? Is there anything wrong with it? The video shows some folks claiming that "these babies will never be able to run for public office." That seems pretty silly. What could a baby do that would be so embarrassing decades from now?
