Research

You can search the St. Petersburg Times archives from January 1987 to the present for free! Take a look at the upper right hand corner of The Times home page and you will see 3 ways to search the St. Petersburg Times archives:

BASIC SEARCH: Type in a keyword or two, click "Search" and you can pull up to 25 results up to 90 days old.

ADVANCED SEARCH: Search The Times archives back to January 1987 by keyword, author, headline or section of the newspaper.

PAST INTERNET EDITIONS: Build an online story list for a particular day back to February 7, 2000. Just select a date, hit the "Go" button and our archives will then list all the stories for that day, by section.

Re-create a particular day's online paper. All you do is select a date as far back as May 1998 and click the "Go" button. Our archives will show you how the St. Petersburg Times Website looked on that day.

St. Petersburg Times free archive search. The newspaper's print archives from January 1, 1987 to the present have been placed online in searchable format. Just type in a keyword or two, click on "Search," and you can choose either of two ways to view your results:

Choose "preview" and get a short overview of the article.

Choose "text" and get the full printable article.
