Support Newspaper in Education

Generous sponsors allow NIE to serve local teachers and students. One hundred percent of your donation pays for newspapers at a discounted rate, allowing your NIE gift to buy at least twice as many papers for students than would be available at a non-NIE subscription rate. The Times picks up the tab for the price difference, as well as the wide variety of NIE learning resources offered to help make the newspaper a powerful learning tool.

Some ways to support the valuable program:

Individual Contribution

You can "Adopt a Class" for just $250 — that's just $7.00 a week — and provide newspapers and additional learning materials for 60 students for the school year. A $500 contribution supplies 120 students and $2,500 would help 600 young people on the road to becoming informed, responsible adults. You can choose the teacher or school you would like to sponsor or you can sponsor a classroom on our waiting list.

Donate from your Newspaper Bill

Add a donation to your subscription renewal amount. Each dollar you donate gives 16 newspapers to local students.

Vacation Donation

Give students your newspapers while you are away. Click here or call 800-888-7012. Each subscriber newspaper equals four classroom newspapers.

Corporate Sponsor

Our Newspaper in Education (NIE) department provides a living textbook--the daily paper--and related learning materials at no cost to students with the generous support of businesses, organizations and individuals. With these newspapers and accompanying curriculum guides, classroom learning can be fun and up-to-date in any subject. For only $2,500 a school year, you could sponsor 10 classrooms, providing for students one of the best learning resources, the St. Petersburg Times and a wide selection of educational supplements on a variety of subjects. A donation of $6,000 also gives you the opportunity to sponsor an educational supplement, to be printed with teaching and discussion guides for use in the classroom. We hope you will consider contributing at these levels, or in any way you chose.

• Every week your adopted classroom(s) will receive a set of newspapers delivered in your name
• Thank you letters from students in sponsored classrooms
• Thank you ads in our newspaper
• Recognition on our Web Site

Partners at the $6,000 level and above also receive:

• Opportunity to suggest supplement subject of your choice, to be printed with teaching and discussion guides for use in the classroom
• Recognition on the inside front of educational supplement
• Your logo placed on our Web site
