The Obama administration officially blamed the Russian government for the recent hacking of the Democratic National Committee and state election offices, saying they were "intended to interfere with the U.S. election process." One U.S. official warned the Russians, “You can and will be held accountable.” Russian officials called the accusations “nonsense.”
Class discussion: Do you think the Russian government is trying to interfere with U.S. elections? Who do you think they want to win the presidential election? Why? What have the candidates said about hacking by the Russians? Have Russians tried to influence other nations’ elections? Has the U.S. tried to influence other nations’ elections? How should the United States respond to hacking by other nations? What about U.S. government hacking?
