The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. This issue of The Mini Page is available through the eEdition Archive to registered eEdition subscribers

Activities:

1. Draw a picture of yourself doing a winter sport you like. Paste newspaper words and pictures about that sport along the edges of your paper to make a border.

2. In the newspaper, circle all the pictures of sporting equipment you might see at the Winter Olympics. How many did you find?

3. Save newspaper stories a bout the Olympic competitions. Paste them on two sections of a poster. Label one section Sports I Like and the other Sports I Have Never Tried . S hare your poster with friends. Ask what they would put on their own posters.

4. How are these things important to the Winter Olympics: (a) pictograms, (b) ramps, (c) anthems and (d) mixed doubles curling?

5. Use the Internet to learn more about white tigers in South Korea. Did you know, for example, that there are animal parks where you can see white tigers , and the South Korean elite Special Forces are called “White Tigers ” ? Pretend you are writing an informational section about white tigers in the Olympics printed program. What would you want people to know about white tigers?
