Activities:

1. Write your own comic strip with three frames. Use a tooth as your comic character. Show your tooth teaching a lesson about good dental health in your comic strip.

2. Make a list of good dental health behaviors. Put a check by all those things you do. Put an X by the behaviors you need to improve on. Now survey several friends or family members. Mark the behaviors your friends/family members follow.

3. With a friend, go through the newspaper and circle all the dental health products you can find. Make a list of the items you found, such as brushes, toothpaste, floss, etc.

4. How are these important to understanding good dental care: (a) cavities, (b) fluoride, (c) enamel and (d) floss?

5. Use the Internet to research how poor dental care can be related to other heath problems. Use the information to create an informational brochure teaching people about these other problems. Share your brochure with friends.

Mini Page activities meet many state and national educational standards. Each week we identify standards that relate to The Mini Page content and offer activities that will help your students reach them.

This week's standard:
Describe relationships between personal health behaviors and individual well - being. (Heath Promotion and Disease Prevention)

(standards by Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi)
