March 21, 2018 : Our First Women

The Mini Page is a syndicated, four-page tabloid written for young children found each Wednesday in The Denver Post. This issue of The Mini Page is available through the eEdition Archive to registered eEdition subscribers

Activities:

1. Think of a woman in your life who is important a nd who makes your life better. Draw a picture of her. Under your picture, paste newspaper words that describe her.

2. Select one woman from today’s Mini Page. Now circle newspaper words and pictures that relate to her career field. How many words and pictures did you find?

3. Find five women in the newspaper who have important jobs not represented in today’s Mini Page. How are each of these women contributing to society?

4. How do these relate to the women in today’s Mini Page: (a) astrophysics, (b) doctors, (c) judges a nd (d) U.S. Cabinet member?

5. Select four women from today’s Mini Page. Find four women in today’s newspaper that share the same career field as the Mini Page woman. Write a brief paragraph about each pair , describing how the career field has changed over time.
