Activities:

1. Draw a Canadian maple leaf on a piece of paper. In the center section, paste words/pictures from the newspaper of people and places in Canada. In the left section, paste words/pictures related to Canadian government, culture and sports. In the right section, paste word s/pictures showing how the U . S . and Canada are alike.

2. Look at a map of the United States. List the names of the states that share a border with Canada.

3. Find and read a newspaper story about the government, culture or sports of Canada. Make two columns on a piece of paper. In one column, list the ways Canada is like the U .S. In the second column, list the ways Canada and the U . S . are different.

4. How are these related to Canada: (a) poutine, (b) Siberia, (c) monarch and (d) Lord Stanley?

5. Use the internet to research entertainers who are from Canada, but who appear in U.S. TV shows, movies or other performances. Pick one of the entertainers you found and write a brief biography of that person. Be sure to include why he/she came to the US.
