Project Gutenberg is an electronic library that provides free public access to a huge list of books and publications. The format makes these texts an excellent resource for a wide range of projects. The site offers nearly 2000 texts in 1999, and it's still growing. Begun in 1971, the site's creators have gained a lot of insite into the changing nature of computer science. The list of texts is impressive and well worth browsing!

This site is a great overview of the life and times of Charles Dickens. There is a lot of material here and it is covered very well.
