Donald Trump has said he doesn't condone violence, but many of the statements he has made during his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination appear to endorse violent actions against people who oppose him. Last week, he suggested that riots could break out if he is not nominated at the Republican convention in Cleveland in July.
Class discussion: Does Trump have any responsibility for the violence at his political rallies? Why or why not? Are Trump protesters to blame? How about Trump supporters? What has Trump said that excites such strong reactions? Are emotions or reason more important in how people vote? What is more important to you? Can you find examples of politicians gaining power with the help of violent supporters?
